The Pilgrim Forest comprises ten original pieces for solo guitar composed and performed by Christopher Berg. While each piece is
complete by itself, the entire hour of music can also be experienced
as a unified work, a tale of discovery in a metaphorical forest whose
language is music.
Critics have acclaimed The Pilgrim Forest: " Berg conveys an exultant
yet subtle control of this music... his performance is nothing less
than radiant ..." (The State). The recording was also selected as one
of the top ten national classical releases for 2000 by William Starr
of The State newspaper. "The Soundboard", the journal of the Guitar
Foundation of America, wrote: "Berg's performance is beautiful. His
sound, his sense of progression, and level of artistic intensity are
compelling and make repeated hearings of this recording very
enjoyable."
