Classical Guitar Strings
Classical guitar strings are an important part of creating the unique sound that is this particular instrument. No matter the quality of the wood and the balance of the neck, if the strings are no good, then you’ve got nothing in terms of getting that beautiful sound. More importantly, the style of strings are elemental in getting the precise style of sound for whatever particular music you play. With so many countries and genres making use of this wonderful instrument, there are a large variety of types available to give a specific sound. However, if you are just a player looking to experiment with new sounds or try something new, strings are a great way to branch out and do something new.
In addition to sound quality, the feel of the string is also very important. It is difficult to determine exactly how one string will work when actually tight on your instrument when it’s sitting loosely in the store. However, you can start to get a general by feeling many types of strings and using as many instruments as possible when you playing with others.
The original strings were made with gut, just like violin strings, but these days you’ll find that most come in nylon strings. These come in two different types – wound and unwound. The wound variety have some metal material wrapped around them to give a deeper sound, so these strings are usually used for the instruments bass strings.
Regardless of the strings you decide on, great care should be taken when changing your strings.
